The Quick Response Fund for Nature supported the Lungba Sumba Community in acquiring 3.8 hectares in Thudam, northeastern Nepal, to protect endangered and endemic plant species, including Indian spikenard (Nardostachys jatamansi), Ativisha (Aconitum heterophyllum), Salampanja (Dactylorhiza hatagirea), and Himalayan yew (Taxus wallichiana). This strategic land purchase also strengthens the protection of the Lungba Samba Biocultural Heritage and Ecotourism Special Conservation Zone, shielding it from hydropower and infrastructure development while preserving critical habitat for threatened species such as the red panda, snow leopard, and blue sheep.
